Important Update from Glenbrook

After months of planning and a tremendous amount of effort by the President, Director and the Executive Board, we have made the extremely difficult decision not to open Glenbrook in September. Given the emerging data about children catching and spreading COVID-19, we have decided to take the most cautious approach in order to protect the safety and well-being of our children, families and staff.

This pandemic has been extremely challenging for all members of the Glenbrook community. Our goal has always been to provide a learning environment that is safe for our children, families, and staff members. This moment has brought a lot of uncertainty for us all, and we understand that many families are still unsure about their comfort with returning to school at this time. Although we have worked hard to develop and prepare a solid plan for reopening, there are still many safety concerns and uncertainties. As a result, we have determined that postponing our opening until early 2021 is the best course of action at present. This may be in January or later in the spring.

This is a temporary closure, and we are committed to re-opening Glenbrook as soon as we can doso in a way that protects the health and safety of our children and staff. We will continue to monitor all the health and safety guidelines and data associated with COVID-19 as we have done  for the past few months. We will continue to regularly re-evaluate the possibility of opening and will keep you informed as we move through this process.

We know that this may be very disappointing to some of you. We too share your disappointment and hope that you can understand and continue to support Glenbrook and our teachers. Glenbrook’s nearly 80 year long history is a wonderful one. Now more than ever, we hope that you will continue to support Glenbrook and its legacy as we move through the upcoming months and look to the future. We are saddened the children will not be able to experience the benefits of a full cooperative preschool education, but with your help and understanding during this challenging time, we know we can look forward to safely opening our doors and enjoying many more years of learning, play and community at Glenbrook.
