Admissions

2020-2021 School Year

Are you looking for a safe, in-person preschool for your child this fall? Glenbrook is excited to open its doors on September 3!

Glenbrook’s Executive Board and staff are closely monitoring COVID-19 health and safety mandates and guidelines from the state of Maryland, MoCo, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and the CDC. Using this guidance, we are (1) modifying how we operate the school and (2) implementing a number of health and safety measures across the school to ensure a safe return to school this fall.

Some of the changes to our operating model include not permitting parents to co-op in the classroom and creating an outdoor learning environment. The “no co-op model” is an approach being adopted by other cooperative schools across the country to help reduce contact between adults and children. Although parents will not be able to participate in their child’s classroom, Glenbrook remains committed to our cooperative philosophy and approach to learning. Parents will continue to be involved in the operations of the school and work with teachers to help support their children. Given the naturally smaller size of our school, we are able to maintain appropriately reduced class sizes that will allow us to be flexible in applying safety measures. Creating outdoor classrooms will encourage reduced contact while providing an exciting, new learning approach for our school. Children will experience circle time, crafts, easel painting, fine motor activities, building and playing with toys outdoors as much as possible. During inclement weather or when appropriate the indoor classrooms will be used.

Glenbrook has been serving families of preschool age children for nearly 80 years. Our motto is "working together to learn and grow." This year more than ever, our parents and staff are working hard together to keep students and staff as safe as possible while maintaining the special nature of our school that is known throughout the community - a nurturing, play-based learning environment. We are all learning along the way and plan to remain flexible and re-assess our measures as needed.

We are accepting applications for the 2020-21 school year and we encourage you to contact us while we still have availability to learn more about our operating model and health and safety measures. You can set-up a tour or phone call/video chat. Please contact our Membership Chair at membership@glenbrookschool.org.

Open Houses

Although the school is closed to in-person tours at this time, we are happy to discuss our unique school over the phone or meet via video call. You can also take an online tour of our beautiful campus here. Open Houses will resume when the Maryland Stay At Home Order is lifted.

Registration Process

We ask prospective parents to visit Glenbrook prior to applying for admission. Visiting families will have the opportunity to see our facilities and classrooms in action. Private tours are happily offered and scheduled at your convenience.  To arrange a private tour, please contact the Membership Chair at 301-365-3190 or membership@glenbrookschool.org.

After touring the school, families who wish to apply should complete the registration form and submit it to the Membership Chair with the registration fee ($65).  Once the registration period for currently enrolled students and other priority groups has passed, new students will be offered a spot or placed on the wait list according to the date their registrations are received.  Glenbrook reserves the right to balance classes by gender.
